I Want to See How Much I've Been Forgiven - Song Insight

written 2001 MP3 RA WMP

This song is a comparison of these two verses:

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Now this one takes a little thinking. Equate forgiven with humble. We are humble when we see that we have been forgiven much. Just like the woman that came to Jesus. She saw that she was forgiven much, and she was humble enough to kiss Jesus' feet. I don't think it is necessarily the amount of sin that you have committed, but it is in your perspective; That you see yourself as the worst sinner there could be.

Now equate love with grace(Refer to the Grace-Song Insight to get an understanding of grace). When we have genuine love it is because grace is being given to us. God is giving us the desire and power to love. You cannot love with your own strength; You can fake it, but you can't truly love.

When you see how much sin is in you, you see how much God has forgiven you. When you see how much God has forgiven you, you are humble. When you are humble, God gives you grace. When God gives you grace, you love much. And when you love much, Aaah! That is living the good life.

This was manifested in my own life to the greatest extent just after my reformation at age 14 (see Home page). I hadn't thought it all out as to what was happening, but it happened, that's for sure. I had just spent 3 hours confessing all my sin to God and parents, and I saw how much sin was in me. I thought I must have been the biggest sinner in the world. Not because of the "very bad" sins that I had committed, but because I was a big hypocrite. I had been putting on a show that I was holy, when in reality I was sick. And at that moment, when I was thinking about how much I had been forgiven God injected me with love. I loved God, and I loved everybody else. I loved everybody more than I thought was possible. I wanted everybody to have what I had, a relationship with God. Because I believed I was the most blessed person in the world.
