O Come (Psalm 95:1-3) - Song Insight

written 2005 MP3 RA WMP

It started out one morning with me reading Psalms 101.

Psalms 101:1 I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing.
2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
5 Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
7 He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.
8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
This chapter told me that, like David did here, I need to make all that I am in charge of be consecrated to God. Everything I use, all my possessions, my friends, the places I go, the things I read, the people I am around, and the things I learn should all be reserved for the Lord. I just need to enjoy the Lord. Mostly it taught me that I don't need to be looking into the things, and ways of the world. I don't need to fill my mind with learning how the ungodly live, even if it is for the purpose of knowing how to better minister. The Holy Spirit convicted me, I had looked, read, and studied the ways of people who do not love Jesus. I had to confess my wrong in this area, learning the way of the world. This was a new revelation to me. Sure I had heard such things as "learn not the way of the wicked" before, but I had always unconsciously translated that as "don't be wicked", and it never occurred to me it that I should just learn of Jesus. It's alright if I am ignorant of other things.

Upon relishing God's forgiveness for my actions, and receiving His grace, and the great freedom giving truth He had just shown me, I was very thankful. I was rejoicing in the Spirit. Praising our loving Father. Then I glanced over at Psalms 95, and the Lord gave me a new song. A song of joy. It is a call, a call to worship. A call to thank the Lord for his faithfulness to us. It is a out flowing of joy, a spontaneous song of freedom that new glimpses of His holiness brings. Such as I has just seen.

Now go and sing the song for yourself, enjoy the Lord. Look it up in the above dropdown menu "Sheet Music". Or what I do is look it up in the Bible, Psalms 95:1-3 exact.

Psalm 95:1-3
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
