Baptism and What it Means

First, it must be completely understood that Salvation is a free gift (Rom 6:23, Eph 2:8-9). Baptism could never save you from your sin. Salvation comes at a steep price, but Jesus has already paid that price for you. All you have to do is accept this free gift by believing in Him (Acts 16:31, John 3:16, Rom 10:9-10). He will wash our sins away and redeem us for eternity. And that is just the beginning!

Jesus offers us more than just hope for after we die. He came to give us hope in this life, too. He wants to be part of our lives every day--to love us, to guide us, and to help us. And when we are ready to trust Him and follow HIS plan for our lives, we can demonstrate this decision to the world by being baptized.

When Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, He died, was buried, and then rose again.
Baptism symbolically goes through the same process. We die to our sin, are "buried" under water, and then are brought out of the water again in a picture of new life with Christ.

Romans 6:3-5
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death?
Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.

When a Believer gets baptized, they are demonstrating to the world that their old sinful lifestyle is dead and buried, and their new life with Jesus is just begun!

Romans 6:8, 10, 11, and 13

And here's a cheery face to see you off!
