Sin and Jesus

Judges 16:21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

Sin Blinds

When in sin you are blind to:

·The fact that you have sin.

·How bad the sin is that you have.

·The wonder of being free from it.

·How it hurts yourself and others.

Sin Binds

            When bound in sin:

·You can't stop it.

·Though you commit to stop it, you keep returning to it. It's a habit.

·You can't get enough of it and are always going deeper and for more.

·It takes you farther than you wanted to go, keeps you longer than you wanted to stay, and costs you more than you wanted to pay.

·You are held back from doing what you are called to do.

Sin Grinds

Sin grinds away at you. It breaks down:

·Your joy.

·Your strength.

·Your abilities.

·Your purpose.

Jesus Gives Sight

Though sin blinds, Jesus heals the blind.

·He lets you see your sin, and how bad it is. Psalms 139:23,24 "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. "

·He lets you see that you can be wonderfully freed.

·He lets you see the way you should go, gives you a vision. Isaiah 30:21 "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."

Jesus Frees

            Though sin binds, Jesus frees.

·He doesn't just let you see the way to go, He gives the power to go in it.

·He gives you victory.  Isaiah 61:1b "to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;"

·He continues to give victory. Even if you fall, He again provides the strength to get back up.

·He frees not just from evil, but into good.

·His freedom grows. He gives freedom in more and more areas.

Jesus Blesses

Though sin once ground at you, Jesus canceled sin on the cross, and now swamps you with blessings.
He breaks the power of canceled sin, He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.

·He fills you with joy.

·He restores your strength.

·He sharpens your abilities.

·He fills you with purpose, something worth living for.

Jesus shows you the way to go. Jesus gives you the power to go in it. Jesus blesses you with the rewards of going the right way.

Isaiah 61:1 "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;"

Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,"

Point of Action:
Come to Jesus. Surrender your sin to Him. Accept His sight, His freedom, and then His blessing.
